November 15, 2016 | NWI Times | By Doug Ross |  Historian Kenneth Schoon and the Porter County Museum will be honored Dec. 5 by the Indiana Historical Society.

Although Schoon retired from Indiana University Northwest in 2011, he continues to share his research on the relationship of geology and history along the South Shore of Lake Michigan. Earlier this year, his book “Shifting Sands: The Restoration of the Calumet Area” was released in conjunction with the documentary “Shifting Sands on the Path to Sustainability,” which recently was nominated for a 2016 Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy Award.
