About 40 miles from Hyde Park sits the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore region; an area of both industrial and environmental development. A documentary film called “Shifting Sands” takes a look at this region and the importance it holds to not only the lakeshore, but to the environmental movement happening worldwide.
Hyde Park filmmaker, Tom Desch, is one of the producers of the film that will show a screening at University of Chicago’s Doc Films series on Oct. 25. Desch said that the film shows a different side to the sometimes stereotyped area of northwest Indiana.
